Spring Mountain Bike Maintenance

Watch on YouTube

Every Spring I like to give the bike a quick once over to make sure my bike is working at its best.  I typically take a weekend when the trails aren’t open and perform some basic maintenance.  My list of items to check are the chain, brake pads, tubeless sealant and suspension air pressure.

I tend to use one chain per season and would normally be installing a new chain in the Spring but I had to replace my chain in the fall so I’m just checking for growth today.

This is a pretty good time to just double check your sealant.  I put on a new rear tire a month ago so it should be fine but my front might be low.

Cycling the suspension is a new step for me.  I used to just simply check the suspension but now I cycle the fork and shock and reset the pressures.  I do try to check my suspension air pressure on occasion but I really noticed how much better my suspension felt after I cycled the fork and shock when I was testing the shockwiz.
