New Mountain Bike Tires - Maxxis DHR2 & Maxxis Shorty

Watch on YouTube

I’ve got some new mountain bike tires for the Spring riding season. My Maxxis DHF & DHR2 are going to come off the bike and the Maxxis DHR2 WT and Shorty are taking their place.  I prefer running the DHR2 as a front tire since it is such a great tire but this is the first time running the WT (Wide Trail) version.

I’ve never run a Maxxis Shorty but heard good things about the tire.  I typically will EXO casing on my tires but I accidentally bought the single ply casing of the Shorty.  Hopefully this tire will perform better than the other single ply casing tires I’ve run in the past.

I like to run different tires for Spring, Summer and Fall/Winter.  I like to run agressive grippy tires because of how I ride and am willing to run a heavier tire that won’t fold over on corners.  Typically in Spring I’ll run something grippy because we really don’t know what conditions we’ll find in Spring. During the summer I try to run something faster rolling because our trails will become hard packed.  In the Fall I run more aggressive tires that are max grip to deal with the leafs that fall on the trails.
