Let’s Chat About Bike Chamois That Don’t Suck

Picking a bike chamois can be tough.  It’s not like you can take them out on a test ride.  I rode my bike 211 times last year and I have tried POC, Gore Wear and Fox Racing chamois.  Chamois flatten over time, so I have a rotation of four pairs that I wear based on ride duration.

The POC chamois has a lot of padding and nice fabric but an odd cut and padding doesn’t cover my tender spots.  It is the shortest of the chamois and would do better on a shorter rider.

Fox Racing has 2 types of chamois: a good and the ones they sell with shorts. The yellow padding is much better than blue chamois. Both chamois have done well mountain biking but I’d only recommend the yellow one for the trainer.  Still I find the Fox chamois does not the best padding coverage.

Gore Wear makes the best chamois I’ve worn.  They offer good coverage and good padding for your tender bits. The only bad feature of the Gore chamois is the sheer sides.  It is great for wearing under some baggie shorts but you may get some unhappy reactions from your family if you walk around the house in them. Still, these are my go-to pair for the longer days in the saddle.
