This is my long term review of the Fox Transfer dropper post. I’ve been riding with the Fox Transfer dropper post on my mountain bike for over a year. Fox offers the dropper post with internal routing or external routing and with 100, 125 or 150mm of drop. On my bike I needed to run external routing and a 125mm of drop because of my bike frame.
Dropper posts are notorious for breaking but I’ve found the Fox Transfer to have no issues with the actual post. The post can be a bit finicky if you over tighten the seat collar. In my experience I do not use the recommended torque but go a little less. If the seat collar is over tightened you will see the post return slowly.
The Fox Transfer does not come with a lever. Fox offers two different styles of lever as a separately. The over the bar version is designed for bikes running a front derailleur and the under the bar version is for bikes running a one by. The fact the lever is sold separately makes the Fox transfer one of the most affordable dropper posts on the market and allows you to go with a third part lever.
The majority of my issues with the Fox Transfer has been caused by the cable getting loose from adjusting the lever or my seat height. This will lead to the post not staying down when compressed. If the cable is too tight, the seat will not stay up while you are sitting. Both of these issues are annoying but can easily be resolved trail side.
I did manage to break the lever clamp but it did stay on the handlebar so I didn’t even notice till I had to swap out a frayed cable.
